Bitso, the leading cryptocurrency platform in Latin America with over 5 million users, and the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) have launched the first NFT to collect Mexico national team jerseys which has been acquired in cryptocurrencies.

This morning, via their social media platforms, the FMF and Bitso announced the possibility of acquiring the new official national team supporters’ jerseys before the team’s participation in the 2022 World Cup. In just 20 minutes , the entire collection sold out. The collection consisted of 100 official physical jerseys, each with a corresponding NFT version of the jersey that fan avatars can wear in the Decentraland metaverse. Each set of physical and NFT jerseys sold for the equivalent of $1,800 MXN in ethers.

Jersey NFTs have an exclusive design for the metaverse – each is unique on the blockchain and can be resold by its owner in subsequent transactions. The virtual jersey was created by Bitso with Mexico’s official colors and the national team’s new shield, features that will make it stand out when users wear it in the virtual world of Decentraland.
