Workers have been busy putting the finishing touches on the new baseball stadium complex on the Binghamton University campus in Vestal.

A grand opening event is scheduled to be held at the $60 million facility on Friday evening. It is located in the northwest corner of campus next to Vestal Parkway at Bunn Hill Road.

University officials said the cost of the sports complex was covered by a donation “from a baseball-loving family and the Bearcat baseball team and Binghamton University in particular.” The identity of the donor has not been made public.

The 84,000 square foot complex includes the stadium, clubhouse and indoor training facility. The training facility features a grass baseball field with a four-story ceiling.

Bearcats baseball coach Tim Sinicki told WNBF News that “the resort is amazing.”

Sinicki is in his 30th year as head coach at Binghamton. He said the opening of the facility “is very exciting”. While the new complex will be a big boost for the school’s current baseball program, “the future of the program will benefit immensely.”

While college baseball players will benefit from using the complex, Sinicki said the community would benefit from having a venue to watch sporting events “and perhaps use the facility for other events.”
