JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Directors of College Sports Information of America (CoSIDA) released their annual All-America Academic Baseball Teams today, Wednesday, June 8, and New Jersey City University’s senior center Ricky Voss (Eatontown, NJ/Monmouth area) put an exclamation mark on a postseason that was filled with awards by being named Second Team Academic All-America. He is only the fifth Gothic Knight student-athlete to be recognized in history, as the NJCU now has seven all-time AAA honors. Voss is also Jersey City’s biggest winner since 2012-13 with second-team honours.

Last year, NJCU senior men’s tennis co-captain Theo Bourghelle became that first Academic All-America (third-team) selection for green and gold since Brian Ferrante won second-team honors. team in 2012-13. The women’s soccer program boasts two all-time Academic All-America winners, with Julia Caseres winning third-team accolades in 2011-12, while Katie Feehan remains the only multiple-time third-team selection in 2005-06 and 2006-07 and NJCU’s only first-team recognition in 2007-08.

Voss officially closes his 2022 awards season with his Academic All-America Second Team and Academic All-District First Team honors, adding them to his First Team (American Baseball Coaches Association) on-field recognition accolades and second-team ( All-region nod, All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) selection and All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) first-team selection.
